The temperature is dropping and it is time to revisit one of our favorite places.....the park! Last week we took advantage of a beautiful evening and headed to one of our favorite parks.
It is interesting to think that our family and friends, in other regions, are bundling up for winter and heading indoors, while we are finally coming out of hibernation and enjoying the outside!
After an evening of playing, we came home and cut into our miracle watermelon! It was red and delicious!

Something Wild Growing Back There.....
This is the time of year when we spruce up the backyard! It is now, when we welcome back those wonderful temperatures! That means that the kids can play outside and I can open the blinds and let some sunshine in, without heating up the entire house! It is now that I am reminded of how it is possible to get through those hot, hot, months of summer. Well, with the exception of this weekend because we will be back to 100 degrees!
Anyway, yesterday morning was cool enough to get outside and pull some weeds, trim some over grown shrubs, and mow the lawn. I was pulling weeds when I noticed some wildly growing vine, that I was sure was a weed that would soon be taking over the yard!
I asked Kelly if he could come figure out where it was growing from so he could pull it out. After he rummaged through it for a bit, he called me back over, and said "come look at this!"
So it wasn't a wild weed growing! Just a wild watermelon plant growing! Kelly then remembered that months ago, after eating a slice of watermelon, he threw some seeds in the flower bed.
I don't know if it will taste any good, but we have successfully (although unknowingly) grown our first watermelon!
