I Want To Ride My Bicycle!

Kelly and his bike partner, Freeman.

After Surgery....Yes, that is a pin sticking out of the top!

10 Weeks later!

First of all, for those who have speakers and can hear the song playing, it is a song by Queen. Kelly has adopted it as his theme song!  While you listen, try and imagine Kelly riding his bicycle all over town! It is kind of funny.

Anyway, 10 weeks ago Kelly broke his finger and had surgery to repair it. He has been on light duty at work and has been going to physical therapy twice a week. His therapy is going well. He has gotten most of the movement back. Now he just has to work on getting the strength back. It has been quite the ordeal for just an index finger! However, we have loved having him work the day shift Monday - Thursday! I remember what having a "normal" work schedule is like.

I will be sad when he returns to normal duty and the royal treatment will be over! I have enjoyed having him at night to help get the kids to bed or so I can attend enrichment or other evening activities. Kelly is looking forward to getting back to work so he can, as the kids say, "catch the bad guys." He really loves his work and he enjoys working with his bike partner. They have a pretty good time together! I think Freeman will be glad to get back into action too!

Three more weeks (hopefully) of therapy and Officer Zierse reports back to duty!

I love the theme song. Sometimes I think my life is a musical...I have so many songs that I love that tell the story of my life! I've never seen a police officer on a bicycle. Then, again, I've never been to Arizona.

I'm sure Kelly will be glad to be back on the streets with his partner. I can't believe how much he's had to go through! Great picture....what were you doing when you took it? I picture you running backwards in front of them...LOL! Go get em' Kel!

Love the song! It's so funny picturing Kelly as a grown up police officer catching the bad guys! In my mind, he's still my 10-year old cousin, but now he's all grown up with three kids!

I remember this bad guy catcher as a little kid that used to like to play jokes on me and my sister when we would come to visit in St. George. He was always the funniest kid, I love all the Zierse's, he is such a great guy! I hope he gets back into the action quick!

Hey Megan! I found your blog through Hollies. I hope thats OK. Your family is so cute and that is so cool that Kelly is a police officer. A bike officer none-the-less. Mike Meitchen and I got pulled over by a cop on a bike when we were Jr.'s and we didn't believe the guy...until he gave him a ticket. I guess more bike cops in AZ. :) Its good to see your cure fam!

This is funny, I found a link to your blog on Aimee's. I'm the cousin who's hubby is a Mesa officer - Becky and Dan in Mesa. Anyway, my hubby Dan just injured his shoulder and had surgery - now we're doing physical therapy. Whats up with that?? Anyway - we should get together sometime since we live in the same state and our hubbys are both officers. Our e-mail is banddglover@msn.com. The other funny thing is my hubby was on bikes for a year last year - now he does undercover stuff but its funny they seem to gravitate towards the same things. Send me a message sometime we would love to get to know you guys.

Hey Megan, there's probably an easier way to send you a message I just can't seem to find your e-mail address. Dan will be back to light duty in about a week. He's exactly like Kelly and can't stand sitting behind a desk. They're saying six months AAHHH... where do you guys live?? We're in Queen Creek but we can meet somewhere in between you guys are in Avondale or something right??

We will have to get together in the afternoons on days our hubbys are both gone. Let the boys wrestle and we can veg. I am sad for you to lose the M-F though, that had to be a nice change. We will just have to have a lot of craft nights. That is looking at the glass half full!!!
