Connor's First Day!

Last night we got to go meet Connor's teacher. He got to see where his class and his desk were. We got a lot of papers, calendars, and other information. It was a nice way for Connor to get a little familiar with what his days are going to be like. He was a little bit shy at first. He didn't quite know what to expect. I think the highlight of the evening was seeing Kutter and being able to play on the playground before we went home. With my friend Tifany's encouragement, I also signed up to be on the P.T.O (the same idea as P.T.A.) I thought it sounded fun and a good way for me to be involved as much as I can.

Connor woke this morning, excited to put on his new clothes that we set out the night before. Mommy even made pancakes and eggs! We got his backpack ready and of course Carson had to get his ready too. Connor put his tennis shoes on and of course Carson had to put his on too. We could tell he was a bit nervous. He said that in primary they learned that they can get a special blessing from their dad to help them feel better. So, he asked if Kelly could give him a blessing. It was so sweet. When Kelly was done, Connor stood up and proudly said, "that was my very first blessing." It was pretty cute!

Then it was time! Connor's school is on the other side of our back yard. So luckily, it is a very short walk to get there. We packed up the family and walked him to school. The school was packed with kids and parents. There was such a feeling of excitement, confusion, and nervousness all around us.

Connor walked in, found his cubby for his backpack. Which, Carson asked where the place for his backpack was. Connor went right to his desk and found his name tag that he gets to wear. Carson wanted one too. Carson was having a hard time understanding that he still has to wait 2 more years for his turn!

Surprisingly, I did very well! No tears were shed, at least not from me. Carson was a little sad that he couldn't stay. I am excited to hear all about his day and watch him grow and learn this year! I still can't believe I am a mother with a child in school!

Wow Megan! I am impressed that no tears were shed. I think that I cried the entire day when my oldest went to school. It only lasted for a day though. Then it was great! You will be a great member of the PTA. I wish you lived here, to be in our PTA. Cute, cute boys!

Congrats on surviving the first send off! I'm pretty sure I won't handle it as well as you did! Let us know how it goes!

I love seeing all the school kids walking through our neighborhood. If Carson gets too lonely he can always come over and play with Jordan. He would love it!

He looks so cute and I am sure he loved it! Sending the oldest off for the first time is so hard- especially for all day- yikes!

So cute, so fun, so sad. Good job being "strong." You have raised such a good kid, you should be proud.

Carson can still come over to play with Payton, she is lonely without her big brother too. Maybe they can cry on each other's shoulders. Or they could just play the touching tongue game. Ha ha ha

I am just crying over the thought of having to get up early every day for the rest of my life now. AAAH!

What a "red letter" day! Sending your first off to school is a momentous occasion! He looks like he's more than ready. So you're going to be involved in the PTO huh? Good thing...I think it really makes a difference for your kids! (It's PTO here too) Have a great school year!

Hi Megan, I am stalking your blog tonight. It always feels so wrong to blog surf, like I'm hacking or something...but here I am, and I just have to say, I could copy this post and paste it into my journal because that's exactly how things went for us on Wednesday with Nolan. I'm sad but proud and I feel like a new different kind of mom now that I have an old kid and can't stay in my pajamas til noon anymore.

Good job - at least we're in it together! See you Sunday :)

I can't believe Connor started school. He looks so happy to be there. I don't know how you got by without crying. I still have another year before Hayden goes and I get sad just thinking about it.
